Hello. My name's Casey Buck, and I'm joining the U.S. Air Force.
It occured to me that, perhaps, friends and family would want to keep tabs on me while I'm away. Thus, the purpose of this blog; which is to provide an easy way for people to know how I'm doin' while I'm off serving my four years doing something NO one would've ever suspected me of ever doing in my lifetime.
Adventures, miss-haps, general going's on and any and all other nonsense that entails will be posted here for your personal amusement (or perhaps, horror). Oh, and also pictures, but that depends on if I get a nice digi to take along with me or not. Perhaps video, if I'm allowed to bring my DVX along! Who knows, I'll get back to that at some point.
But as for now, I go back to the recruiting office tomorrow to finalize the paper work and get my fitness regimen so I don't QUITE look like the flabby-yet-starving-artist that I am by the time I reach boot camp, which should be around September or December. And also next week I'm going up to Fargo, I believe, to take my physical and swear in, wherein there's positively no going back.
Within the next couple of days, I'll probably post my reasonings for joining along with some other potentially informative stuff. Keep in touch y'all and stay good.
Quick Edit: I stepped outside this morning after posting the above, and something was...different. The air was crisp and cool; it felt like I was breathing for the first time. The colors in the sky looked new to me; vibrant and more spectacular than I remember. The coffee this morning wasn't even bitter. Everything just felt...perfect. Something tells me I'm headed in the right direction with this whole military thing.
Also, I'm going to quit smoking, start jogging a mile and a half every day, and REALLY cut back on sweets and other fattening foods and bulk up on fruits and liquids. The next month or so is gonna be a BITCH to adjust to, but I know the shape I'm gonna be in by the time I get to boot camp is going to let me finally be happy with the way I look. I'm really excited for that.

I bet life in the air force will be something like every week you and a peer get into a wacky adventure, then have to clean up the mess you made, all within a 30 minute timespan. You will also have a catch phrase.
You know i'd gladly kick your ass into shape for free.
i'd say youre crazy but go do it. You'd be great in the military especially in intelligence.
