Art-Dump 2: Electric Boogaloo

Sorry for not updating as much as I said I was going to, folks. I need to get in the habit of checking back here often. Anywho, onto the art-dump:

And the inspiration for that image: A still from a short film I wanted to shoot but lost interest in after doing some quick test footage:

And there we have it. Oh, in other news, I lost another ten pounds and I'm looking quite svelte! And no, that last image isn't supposed to convey that. It's hard to look svelte when you're a geeky space alien from the internet. Believe me, I tried.

Take care folks.

"Evicted."

For once, I'm as proud of the background as I am of the character. Heck, I might like the background a little bit better, hah.

10 lb. Update.

Just a small update as to how that fitness thing's going for now, there'll be an art-dump later on sometime either today or tomorrow.

So my average weight's down to 181. Not bad considering I haven't been going at it as hard as I could be; but could be better. Still, that's ten pounds I shouldn't have to deal with anymore. :)

I started pushing myself harder today, jogging more than a fifth of a mile at a time and sprinting during the home-stretch. Of course my body's hating me for it, but that's pretty much what I get for downing five cups of java before deciding to run. ^^;

Note to self: No more of that foolishness.

Art Dump/My First Illustration Friday!

So this weeks theme for IF was captain, and I chose to do Capt. Joseph there on the bottom. My first Illustration Friday! Woohoo! I'm thinking I should do this more often.

I also did a gift-art for a buddy of mine up top here, a kamakaze orange, and a rather optimistic cat. All in the span of a little over a day! I'm surprised at how quickly I was able to churn these out, usually it takes me a month or two between simple sketches, but I think I've officially killed that habit now.

Enjoy the art-dump folks!

Opportunity Drive

This started as an over-glorified test-reel on my new DVX, but I'm kind've diggin' the Wes Anderson feel to it and I'm thinking I could turn this into either a short film or an episodic mockumentary/comedy thing. Tell me what you think, and yes, I usually look that scrubby when I know I'm not going anywhere that day. Also, ignore my voice. I dunno how I managed to sound like that. Serious.

Training for Training pt.2

Day 2 of training is officially over with, and I got the order right this time. :P

Although it's weird considering that I had more breathing problems today than I did the first time. Still made it through though, and I guess I can attribute the above to the fact that my body's still not used to moving around yet, and I made some bad food choices yesterday at the county fair (cheese-curds, funnel cakes and greasy subs oh my). Ah well, it can only get better as time goes on.

I should call my dad and tell him I've joined the air-force before this next week is up. It's gonna make one weird birthday present for him I'm sure, but he's gotta know sooner or later, right?

Peace.

Training for training.

Welp, just got done with my first actual "work-out" as outlined in the Air Force's preparation for Basic Training print-out, which is a 14-week fitness program designed to help new enlistees lose that spare-tire around the mid-section and run a mile and a half without collapsing midway through. Here's the regimen for week 1:

5 minute stretch/warm-up
2 minute sit-up/push-up intervals
5 minute walk
1 minute jog
5 minute walk
1 minute jog
5 minute walk
2 minute stretch

Now, I fucked up the order pretty badly this morning because I decided to stretch, THEN run three times and walk two times (alternating), and THEN do the sit-ups/push-ups. Basically, I made it a lot harder for myself than I needed to. But at least I wasn't the collapsed, panting mess I thought I'd be! I'm sure I'm gonna get some bitching cramps later but I trust it'll be worth it in the end. Now I just need to really quit smoking and I should be well on my way to something resembling physical fitness.

Seriously, this morning was the most actual exercise I've gotten in a couple years, but I actually feel A LOT better for doing it. Methinks I'm gonna take a good liking to this exercise thing.

In related news, I've noticed something interesting in the reactions of the people I knew once they found out I was joining the Air-Force. They all used one of three possible reactions:

1: "And you're throwing your life away, WHY?!" = Everyone I knew from my arts high-school.
2: "Good luck man! Wishing you all the best!" = All my inter-tr0n aquaintances.
3: "HAH! Hah! Oh, wait, you're serious." = My little brother.

Seriously ones; I've been thinking this through for quite awhile now, I have an educated guess as to what I'm getting into. As far as I can see, the pros (which are many and varied), far, FAR outweigh the cons for me. Good pay, paid education, work experience, huge benefits while I'm serving and when I get out, the chance to travel the world, the list goes on. I'm really thinking this'll be a great life experience guys, don't worry about me. And if you're worrying I'm wasting potential; don't. Seriously.

Alright, more later as it happens. Take care of yourselves.
